Website ‚Open Space Edition‘

Collaboration on the technical realization of the online presence of the Bremen publishing house ‚Open Space Edition‘ based on a design by Arne Olsen. Visitors to the website should be able to browse through the publisher’s range of products and also order individual items. Based on the flexible editorial system ‚Contao‘, an easy-to-use website was created that retains its appealing basic design on mobile devices and desktop computers:

Frieze on the Rembertiring 8-12

Replica of part of the frieze on the building of the Senatorin für Kinder und Bildungat Rembertiring 8 – 12 on a scale of 1:30. This is a test print of the smaller part of the frieze to the right of the entrance to the building.

Archive, Hans-Albrecht Schilling

Due to the spatial depth of the frieze, it was extremely difficult to create the required paths along the edges in Inkscape. Shadows and optical overlays made it necessary to interpret some of the lines. In addition, 3D printable files could only be created from a basic shape using a negative Boolean operation. This meant that the contours of the respective depths had to be displayed. This section, measuring 2.10 x 2.30 meters, took me several days. I hope I can find a simpler method for the remaining 40 meters….
An X3D model was created from the 3D reproduction of the frieze, which is displayed here in the browser via the WebGL interface:
